- 🔧 Never allow a tool to touch the positive terminal and body metal simultaneously.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Locate and inspect the battery
- Put on the safety glasses and acid-resistant work gloves.
- Locate the battery on the driver’s side of the engine compartment.
- Check for a cracked case, leaking fluid, or badly swollen sides. Do not handle a leaking or frozen battery; have it professionally removed.
Step 2: Disconnect the negative cable
- Use the 10mm socket and 3/8-inch-drive ratchet to loosen the negative terminal clamp marked “−”.
- Twist the clamp gently and lift it straight off the battery post. Do not pull on the cable or strike the battery sensor.
- Move the cable aside where it cannot spring back onto the post.
- Negative comes off first and goes on last.
Step 3: Disconnect the positive cable
- Open the red positive-terminal cover.
- Use the 10mm socket and 3/8-inch-drive ratchet to loosen the positive terminal clamp marked “+”.
- Lift the clamp straight off and position it away from the battery post.
- Keep the ratchet from contacting body metal while it touches the positive clamp.
Step 4: Remove the battery hold-down
- Use the 10mm socket, 3/8-inch-drive 6-inch extension, and 3/8-inch-drive ratchet to loosen the two hold-down nuts evenly.
- Unhook the hold-down rods and remove the upper bracket. A hold-down is the bar that prevents the battery from moving.
- Place the bracket and rods where they cannot fall into the engine compartment.
Step 5: Remove the old battery
- Attach the battery carrier strap securely. This strap grips the battery and provides safer lifting handles.
- Lift the battery straight upward without tipping it. Keep it upright because liquid electrolyte may be present inside.
- Place it upright on a stable surface away from children and pets.
Step 6: Clean and inspect the mounting area
- Use the plastic trim brush to remove dry dirt and debris from the battery tray.
- Use the battery terminal cleaning brush to clean corrosion from the cable clamps.
- Inspect the tray, hold-down rods, cables, and clamps for damage. Replace damaged hardware before installing the battery.
Step 7: Install the replacement battery
- Use the battery carrier strap to lower the Group 24F battery into the tray with the terminals facing the same direction as the original battery.
- Make sure the battery sits flat and does not trap either cable underneath it.
- Remove the carrier strap after the battery is fully seated.
Step 8: Install the hold-down bracket
- Position the upper bracket and engage both hold-down rods correctly in the battery tray.
- Use the 10mm socket, 3/8-inch-drive 6-inch extension, and 3/8-inch-drive inch-pound torque wrench to tighten the nuts evenly.
- Torque the battery hold-down nuts to 4.4 Nm (39 in-lbs).
- Check that the battery cannot slide or rock. Do not overtighten the bracket because the battery case can crack.
Step 9: Connect the positive cable
- Push the positive clamp completely down onto the positive post.
- Use the 10mm socket and 3/8-inch-drive inch-pound torque wrench to tighten the clamp nut.
- Torque the positive terminal nut to 6 Nm (53 in-lbs).
- Apply a light coating of battery terminal protectant spray around the outside of the connected clamp. Do not spray between the post and clamp.
- Close the red positive-terminal cover.
Step 10: Connect the negative cable
- Push the negative clamp completely down onto the negative post without twisting or stressing the battery sensor.
- Use the 10mm socket and 3/8-inch-drive inch-pound torque wrench to tighten the clamp nut.
- Torque the negative terminal nut to 6 Nm (53 in-lbs).
- Apply a light coating of battery terminal protectant spray around the outside of the connected clamp.
Step 11: Restore the driver’s window auto function
- Start the engine and close the driver’s door.
- Use the driver’s window switch to lower the window completely.
- Pull the switch upward until the window closes completely, then continue holding it for at least two seconds.
- Check that one-touch automatic lowering and closing work normally.
✅ After Repair
- ✅ Start the engine and verify that it cranks normally.
- 🔍 Confirm that the charging-system warning light turns off after the engine starts.
- 🧪 Switch on the headlights and climate-control blower to verify stable electrical operation.
- 🕒 Reset the clock, audio presets, and other personalized settings if they were erased.
- 🚗 Turn the steering wheel from center to near full left and right, then take a short drive if stability-system warning lights remain illuminated. They should clear after the systems relearn.
- ♻️ Return the old battery upright to a battery retailer or authorized recycler. Do not place it in household trash.
