🔧 Fit - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
Your Fit uses two different-size front wiper blades. Each blade releases from its J-hook-style arm, then the new blade slides and locks into place.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 10-15 minutes
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Switch the ignition off before touching the wiper arms.
- 🛡️ Protect the windshield with a folded towel because the bare metal arm can crack the glass if it snaps down.
- ✋ Replace one blade at a time so the blade positions cannot be mixed up.
- 🔋 Battery disconnection is not required.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Protect the Windshield
- Put on the nitrile work gloves and safety glasses.
- Use the microfiber towel to cover the glass directly below the driver-side wiper arm.
- The towel cushions the glass if the spring-loaded arm slips.
Step 2: Raise the Driver-Side Wiper Arm
- Use your gloved hand to lift the 28-inch driver-side arm away from the windshield.
- Hold the metal arm securely while working. Do not release it without a blade attached.
Step 3: Release the Driver-Side Blade
- Rotate the blade until it sits nearly perpendicular to the metal arm.
- Locate the small locking tab where the blade connects to the curved J-shaped hook.
- Use your gloved thumb to press the locking tab.
- While holding the tab, slide the blade downward toward the base of the wiper arm.
- Guide the blade around and off the hook.
- Do not force the plastic connector.
Step 4: Install the New Driver-Side Blade
- Use your gloved hands to feed the arm's J-hook through the opening in the new 28-inch blade connector.
- Slide the blade upward along the hook until the connector clicks into place.
- Gently pull the blade downward to verify that the lock is engaged.
- Use your gloved hand to lower the arm slowly onto the windshield.
Step 5: Replace the Passenger-Side Blade
- Move the microfiber towel beneath the passenger-side wiper arm.
- Use your gloved hand to lift the arm and rotate the 14-inch blade.
- Press the connector tab, slide the old blade toward the arm base, and guide it off the J-hook.
- Slide the new 14-inch blade onto the hook until it clicks.
- Pull gently to verify the lock, then lower the arm carefully.
Step 6: Inspect the Installation
- Use your gloved hands to confirm both rubber wiping edges lie flat against the glass.
- Verify the 28-inch blade is on the driver side and the 14-inch blade is on the passenger side.
- Remove the microfiber towel before operating the wipers.
✅ After Repair
- 💧 Apply windshield washer fluid and operate the wipers at low speed.
- 👀 Confirm both blades move freely without striking each other or the windshield trim.
- ✨ Check for streaking, chatter, or unwiped areas. Recheck the connector if a blade sits unevenly.
- 🛑 Stop the wipers immediately if either blade becomes loose.
